Below are the estimated costs for intended parents working with our Gestational Carriers. An escrow account is funded by the intended parents to provide the carrier security during her pregnancy. The entire compensation package is outlined in the legal contract which is signed before the start of medications. You, as the Gestational Surrogate/Carrier, will have the chance to review the compensation package before you are matched. CARRIER BENEFITS
Varies State to State
First-Time Carrier's Base Compensation - $35,000-40,000
Experienced Carrier's Base Compensation - $42,000-$50,000
This compensation is paid to the carrier, via the escrow account, in installments over the course of the pregnancy. The installments will begin once the confirmation has been made (confirmation of heartbeat at approximately six (6) weeks of pregnancy, via ultrasound).
Monthly Allowance - $400 / month
Non-accountable monthly expense allowance to cover expenses. Paid In lieu of itemized costs, this allowance includes reimbursements for mileage over fifty(50) miles round trip, telephone calls, postage, faxes, non-prescription vitamins/supplements, childcare services, and other incidental expenses.This fee shall begin the 1st of the month after the contract has been executed between the surrogate and the prospective parents and will continue until either termination of the contract by either party or 1 month after delivery
Travel Expenses
Airfare, rental cars, and lodging may be paid when a carrier is required to travel more than fifty (50) miles for medical screening or embryo transfers. Intended parents shall reimburse surrogate for travel expenses only in connection with the following: the screening process (including husband/partner); the matching process (including husband/partner); the embryo transfer procedure; delivery/birth; trips exceeding 50 miles (round trip) required by the IVF Physician or the Obstetrician or requested by intended parents.
Maternity Clothing Allowance - $700.00(singleton)
Maternity Clothing Allowance - $1,000.00 (multiples)
This fee is paid at the start of the second trimester and directly to the carrier through the escrow account.
Start of Medications fee - $500.00
Upon starting injectable medications typically Lupron
Mock Cycle fee - $500.00
Some Reproductive Endocrinologists (RE) will require a mock cycle to stimulate a cycle to test for the thickening of uterine lining.
Dropped/Cancelled Cycle - $400.00
Ordered by the IVF doctor or if prospective parents cancel cycle
Embryo Transfer fee - $1,000
This fee is paid to compensate the carrier for discomfort and risk associated with the procedure.
Confirmation of Heartbeat- $500.00
One time pay out after confirmed pregnant by untrasound
Invasive Procedure fee – $500-$1,500 (per procedure)
D&C, Abortion/Termination (as applicable)
Cervical Cerclage (as applicable)
Amniocentesis or CVS (as applicable)
Fetal Reduction (as applicable)
Ectopic (Tubal) Pregnancy (as applicable)
Blood Transfusion
C-Section fee - $3,000
If the carrier is required to deliver via c-section, as required by OB or requested by prospective parents.
Multiples - $7,000 per additional child
Beginning the first day of the 14th week after the date of the embryo transfer.
Hysterectomy - $5,000
Surrogate will be entitled to receive $5,000 if she must undergo a hysterectomy, resulting in
the loss of her uterus, as a result of the delivery of the child, as long as such procedure(s) are performed within 3 months of the delivery.
If one or both tubes are removed - $2,000.00
Additional to ectopic (tubal) surgery compensation
**Medical Restrictions
Housekeeping Allowance - $100 per week
If Obstetrician/IVF Physician confirms in writing that surrogate is unable to perform normal housekeeping chores, housekeeping expenses will be covered. These services shall.not exceed $100.00 per week.
Support Program Allowance -$1,200.00 cap
(optional) Allowance provided to surrogate over the course of the pregnancy starting at
the 10th week of pregnancy. Support allowance is used for yoga, nutritional program, wellness program,maternity massage, support group, gym. A receipt must be provided by the surrogate to recoup reimbursement
Lost Wages -(actual net wages)
Prospective parents shall compensate surrogate for lost wages only for the medical screening process (max 2 days), the embryo transfer; medical appointments as required by the IVF Physician/Obstetrician or requested by intended parents; restriction of activities/bed rest in accordance with doctor orders; maternity leave ( 6 weeks after birth for vaginal delivery, 8 weeks for c-section delivery); in any case, lost wage
Reimbursement to the surrogate shall never exceed a cumulative total of $20,000 over the entire surrogacy process, including pre-pregnancy events and post-delivery maternity leave. If carrier is a stay-at-home mom or unemployed, no lost wages are paid. The carrier must provide proof of actual lost wages.
Spouse Lost Wages – TBD
Prospective parents shall compensate surrogate for husband/partner's lost wages only for: the medical screening process (max 2 days); and the birth of the child (vaginal 3 days max, c-section 5 days max), and not to exceed $200 per day.
Insurance
Life Insurance - premium not to exceed $600/year
Insures both the surrogate's family and the prospective parent(s) in the event of death. $400,000 designated to surrogates beneficiary. $100,000 designated to prospective parents as beneficiary
Surrogate Maternity Insurance - Actual cost,
Insurance coverage specifically for a surrogate pregnancy or an IVF pregnancy and complications that may arise during the IVF synchronization cycle with you, or the egg donor and surrogate.
NOTE: Some carriers may be subject to additional screening and all co-pays and insurance deductibles are the responsibility of the intended parents. Medical costs for egg retrievals, IVF embryo transfers and all pharmaceutical costs are determined by your reproductive endocrinologist; clinic utilized and preferred drug company. All legal fees are also the responsibility of the intended parents.
